Polychrotidae
The family Polychrotidae includes two genera: Polychrus and the extinct genus Afairiguana. Distribution: the Caribbean Basin, Central and South America. [IMG_1] Polychrotidae represent a heterogeneous group of lizards. All are oviparous; most are arboreal. [IMG_2] Polychrus liogaster Until recently, nearly 1,000 species, including those now in Polychrotidae, were placed in Iguanidae (sensu lato), but Frost and Etheridge (1989), analyzing iguanian systematics, proposed eight monophyletic groups within this large family. They proposed elevating these eight groups, including Polychrotidae, to family rank. [IMG_3] Polychrus acutirostris Sources: 1. animaldiversity 2. en.wikipedia
