Batrachology-Herpetology: Start Page

A start page for joint experiments with students within the specialized Batrachology and Herpetology course.

The first step we need to take together is to create pages for the families of extant tailless amphibians. Starting point: the summary table on this website. Primary source: Amphibian Species of the World. The information to be included on each page should meet the minimum requirements outlined in the family profiles presented on this page and the following ones. Additionally, a brief description of the group may be provided in free form. A good source with family descriptions (though not entirely consistent with modern interpretations) is Vitt L.J., Caldwell J.P. Herpetology. An Introductory Biology of Amphibians and Reptiles. — Academic Press, 2009. The next step should be to create pages for the lizard families. It is important not to forget to cite the sources from which you obtained the information. Order Anura Suborder Archaeobatrachia [[Alytidae|Alytidae]] (12 sp.) The source file should have a horizontal resolution (typically) of no more than 720 pixels, and the optimal size is about 500 pixels horizontally. Clicking the "Image" button opens the "Image Properties" window. By selecting the "Select from server" option, you will open another file browser window (it may be a pop-up or open as a separate tab in your browser). In it, navigate to the pictures folder, and from there—either to the Amphibia folder or the Reptilia folder. You can select a file located in this folder (the selected file will appear in the "Image Properties" window), or you can upload it from your computer’s hard drive using the "Upload" button. It makes sense to place images on a separate line centered in the table. When copying text from Word, make sure the text is free of extra tags (which Word inserts). This can be done in one of three ways (in descending order of priority): — first paste the text into Notepad (the simplest Windows text editor that uses the .txt format), then copy it from that window and paste it onto the site; — click the "Paste from Word" button (in the first row of buttons in FullHTML mode, marked with a W) and paste the text into the window that opens; — paste directly into the window on the website, then select the text and remove formatting using the "Remove Formatting" button (Tx in the top row of buttons).
