Allophrynidae

Range: Found north and south of the Amazon River in Venezuela, Suriname, Guyana, French Guiana, and Brazil. [IMG_1] Genera – 1 Species – 2 Ecology and behavior: Arboreal species, found on trees in montane forests, flooded forests, and palm swamps no higher than two meters above ground level. Females lay eggs on tree leaves above the water surface. Morphological characteristics: Small animals less than one inch in length, with coloration ranging from bronze to grayish-brown, dark spots, and gold and yellow thin patterns on the back; males have more spots on the throat than females.
