BioStatistica — Assignments for part-time students

Basic assignments that require understanding how to work with Statistica software.

Here are basic assignments that must be completed using Statistica. The tasks refer to the file Pelophylax_example.sta. Results should be sent to d.a.shabanov_gmail.com. Requirements for the pass/fail assignment are described here. Task 1 1a. Categorized scatterplot showing the ratio of inner metatarsal tubercle length to tibia length for representatives of different genotypes. 1b. Do frogs with genotypes LR and LRR differ significantly in the ratio of inner metatarsal tubercle length to tibia length? Task 2 2a. Categorized histogram: distribution of males and females by relative head width (head width/body length) on one graph. 2b. Do males and females differ significantly in relative head width? Task 3 3a. Build a categorized scatterplot with Cs/Ci on one axis and T/L on the other. Try to interpret it, considering that Pelophylax lessonae is a more terrestrial species, whereas P. ridibundus is more adapted to swimming. Note that for jumping on land, the inner metatarsal tubercle improves foot traction, while for swimming a relatively elongated distal part of hind limbs is optimal. 3b. Using one-factor ANOVA, determine whether the value of trait Cs/Ci is significantly associated with genotype.
