Ecology-2011 (I). Toward Module I!

I would like to remind third-year students that starting Tuesday, March 15, all groups will take a test on Module I of the Ecology course during their seminars. The syllabus is available here: /node/10 (see Attachment 1).To help you prepare, you may find the models useful that we once developed together with Alexander Grigoryevich Kozlenko and Marina Alexandrovna Kravchenko. We carried out a Russian government contract to develop the IUMK (Innovative Educational and Methodological Complex) "Ecology. Designing the Biosphere." It consisted of a printed section, as well as various models: the main one (where it was necessary to organize life on a certain virtual planet) and 50 research models (there is some information about this work in my old article “Innovations and Reality,” posted here: /node/79; an overview of the IUMK on the website of its Kyiv-based author, A.R. Kozlenko: https://www.kozlenkoa.narod.ru/books2.htm).The work was funded by the Russian National Fund for Personnel Training (NFPK); three authors wrote the content, and the Russian branch of “Quasar-Micro” implemented everything in software. When the work was completed, delivered, and passed testing with flying colors, “Quasar,” using copyright law, was able to ban the use of the IUMK. Incidentally, this is one example of how copyright protects not the authors of the content, but the rights holders, who are often not interested in the development of the content. It is now clear that the work has been lost. A significant portion of the material from the IUMK textbook was included in our lecture notes with M.K. Here are some of the models: Levels of Biosystems: https://www.virtulab.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=140:2009-08-22-14-32-45&catid=41:2009-08-23-11-29-31&Itemid=101 Continental drift: https://www.virtulab.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=141:2009-08-22-14-34-20&catid=41:2009-08-23-11-29-31&Itemid=101The Oxygen Revolution: https://www.virtulab.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=144:2009-08-22-14-38-07&catid=41:2009-08-23-11-29-31&Itemid=101The Hydrological Cycle: https://www.virtulab.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=128:2009-08-22-14-12-11&catid=41:2009-08-23-11-29-31&Itemid=101BGX-carbon cycle: https://www.virtulab.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=130:2009-08-22-14-13-21&catid=41:2009-08-23-11-29-31&Itemid=101BGX-nitrogen cycle: https://www.virtulab.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=131:2009-08-22-14-14-54&catid=41:2009-08-23-11-29-31&Itemid=101BGH-Sulfur cycle: https://www.virtulab.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=143:2009-08-22-14-36-37&catid=41:2009-08-23-11-29-31&Itemid=101BGH-phosphorus cycle and energy sources for cycles: https://www.virtulab.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=129:2009-08-22-14-12-45&catid=41:2009-08-23-11-29-31&Itemid=101
