They live near water bodies and can dive and swim. Morphological traits: Length 40-50 cm (the tail is about half of total length, around 20 cm), limbs shortened. External ear opening absent. Color reddish-brown. Some Bornean earless monitor lizards were delivered alive to zoos in Europe and America. To date, about 100 individuals of this species are known (living or museum specimens). In captivity they are fed pieces of squid and fish.
