Family Mantellidae The family Mantellidae includes 204 species, grouped into three subfamilies: Subfamily: Boophinae (75 spp.) Subfamily: Laliostominae (4 spp.) Subfamily: Mantellinae (125 spp.) Distribution: Madagascar and Mayotte islands.
Laliostoma labrosum Blommersia angolafa Boophis ulftunni Spinomantis aglavei Mantidactylus guttulatus Most species are small to medium-sized (15-50 mm; Mantidactylus guttulatus reaches 100-120 mm), terrestrial or arboreal frogs.
Frogs of the genus Boophis contain toxic alkaloids in the skin and inhabit tropical montane forests.
Tadpoles of several species of this genus have numerous rows of labial teeth.
The species Laliostoma labrosum inhabits open sites, rice fields, and agricultural areas.
