Personal. Kind of a vacation
Normal people have vacations. We do not exactly. Practice ended in the second half of July, then came a backlog of paperwork (now electronic), and family care without weekends. Still, we managed one week at the field station.
Normal people have vacations. For us — not exactly. Field practice ended in the second half of July. After it came sorting accumulated paperwork (more precisely now electronic work). My wife had child care without weekends, vacations, or breaks. Still, we had one week when we went to live at the field station after practice. Our stay coincided with an intellectual game event at the station historically called “Zanki” (though in recent years held in Haidary). For children there was good company for games. Yes, first few photos here were taken not by me, but by the kind grandfather of a boy with whom my son plays airplanes. [IMG_1] And here is another non-authored photo, taken by a photo-maniac during our short visit to the station a few days before the family “vacation.” It shows one major advantage of our house in Haidary being used as intended: a convenient fire place. [IMG_2] Main campfire gatherings were, naturally, in the evening darkness. Again and again, a sizable company sat around it. Sometimes one could snack there even during daytime. [IMG_3] Roma managed to participate in an intellectual game for the youngest, conducted by a strange person in two hats. [IMG_4] [IMG_5] And now our own photos begin... [IMG_6] [IMG_7] Most of the time I worked on my laptop, doing statistics and modeling (we made a forward step in modeling stability of frog population systems, which I assess as very promising), while my wife carried the load with children... The road was harder. [IMG_26] Sleeping. [IMG_27] Whining. [IMG_28] The younger woke up; the older hugged him and both fell asleep again... [IMG_29] At the end of our stay in Haidary, we attended a small event in Korobovi Khutory. [IMG_30] Children tried to fight a vastly superior opponent. [IMG_31] [IMG_32] [IMG_33] [IMG_34] [IMG_35] The finale was predictable. [IMG_36] This was a cafe with an original design... [IMG_37] After a game where the little one’s belly was pinched, he walked around for a long time showing everyone his stomach. [IMG_38] [IMG_39] [IMG_40] [IMG_41] Could they be relatives? [IMG_42] [IMG_43] And after that — back to Kharkiv. Articles, models, course programs, and everything else; and Roma had school again...
