From September 12 to 16, a zoological conference will take place in Kharkiv and on the biological station in Gaydary. Zoologists of different specialties are expected to gather to exchange work experiences using modern methods. The registration deadline specified in the circular has passed, but it has been extended to March 1; I hope that even after this deadline, we will not refuse people who want to join us. So far, a little over 100 participants have registered. Our advantages: Kharkiv is a city with a successful and old zoological school; Gaydary is one of the wonderful places in our country, and the biological station will be significantly improved by the conference; at Kharkiv University in 2017-2018, a candidate specialized council will operate in the specialty "zoology", so a serious professional conversation is possible at the conference; the possibility of a worthy publication of the materials presented at the conference; just good company. We look forward to seeing you in Kharkiv! The conference program includes plenary and sectional sessions, poster presentations, and field excursions. The working languages of the conference are Ukrainian, Russian, and English. The conference will cover various topics in zoology, including hydrobiology, parasitology, entomology, ichthyology, herpetology, ornithology, theriology, ecology, zoogeography, paleontology, ethology, systematics, phylogenetics, phylogeography, and conservation of biodiversity. A printed collection of abstracts will be published before the conference, and an electronic version will be posted on the website of the Biological Faculty of KhNU. A special issue of "Visnyk KhNU. Ser. biology" will be published based on the conference materials; selected articles may be published in the journal "Visnyk zoologii". The schedule is as follows: September 12, 2017 - arrival and registration of participants; September 13, 2017 - plenary sessions; September 14-15, 2017 - sectional sessions and poster presentations; September 16, 2017 - closing of the conference. The biological station of KhNU is located in a forest area near the Siverskyi Donets river and is part of the Homilshansky Forest National Park. Participants will stay at the biological station or in nearby hotels. Catering will be provided, with a cost not exceeding 100 hryvnias per day. To participate in the conference, please send an application with the title of your report to vseukr.zool.conf@gmail.com by February 20, 2017. Scientists, teachers, postgraduate students, and students working in various fields of zoology are invited to participate in the conference. The form of participation in the conference is in-person. Conference participants can choose one of three forms of presenting their materials: 1) oral presentation at a plenary session, 2) oral presentation at a sectional meeting; 3) poster presentation. The working languages of the conference are Ukrainian, Russian, and English. The conference work is planned in the following directions: — Hydrobiology; — Parasitology; — Entomology; — Ichthyology; — Herpetology; — Ornithology; — Theriology; — Ecology; — Zoogeography; — Paleontology; — Ethology; — Systematics, Phylogenetics, Phylogeography; — Biodiversity Conservation; — History of Scientific Research. A printed collection of abstracts will be published before the conference begins. This collection will also be available in electronic form on the website of the Faculty of Biology of KhNU. It is also planned to publish a separate issue of "Visnyk KhNU. Biology Series" based on the conference materials; individual articles, after peer review, may be published in the journal "Visnyk zoologii". The approximate schedule of the conference is as follows: 12.09.2017 (Tuesday) — arrival and registration of participants, if necessary, independent accommodation in hotels and hostels in Kharkiv; excursions around the city, to the Museum of Nature, Eco-park. 13.09.2017 (Wednesday) — completion of registration and arrival of participants who do not require accommodation in Kharkiv; from 11:00 to 17:00 — plenary sessions in the main building of V. N. Karazin KhNU; after 17:00 — organized transfer by buses to the V. N. Karazin KhNU Biological Station in the village of Haydary. 14-15.09.2017 (Thursday and Friday) — sectional meetings at the biological station, poster session, field excursions, and informal discussions. 16.09.2017 (Saturday) — closing of the conference and departure from the biological station for most participants (those who wish can stay until Sunday, 17.09.2017). The V. N. Karazin KhNU Biological Station was founded in 1914. It is located in an upland oak forest above the floodplain of the Seversky Donets, on the territory of the Homilshanski Forests National Nature Park. Familiarization of conference participants with the surroundings of the biological station and the Homilshanski Forests NPP is planned. Most participants will reside at the biological station in unheated cabins (in mid-September, this corresponds to the weather conditions). Near the biological station, there is a base of a large trading organization with a four-star hotel and rooms of various comfort levels (the cost of accommodation will be indicated in subsequent information letters). Participants will be provided with three meals a day, the cost of which will correspond to the prices of products in September 2017 and will not exceed 100 hryvnias per day.
