Presentation for the Staff Conference Speech on the Election of the Dean
A staff conference was held: the first stage of electing the dean of the Biology Faculty. I presented a report (slides provided) and a proposal (described after the presentation). Unfortunately, my proposal has not yet been accepted. At the end of the page are the voting results. The next stage of dean elections is ahead.
A staff conference was held: the first stage of electing the dean of the Biology Faculty. I delivered a report (I provide the presentation) and a proposal (described after the presentation). Unfortunately, my proposal has not yet been accepted. At the end of the page are the voting results. The next stage of dean elections is the Faculty Academic Council on June 10, and the final stage is the University Academic Council on June 24. The presentation is a shortened version of this text. Commenting on the last question, I pointed out the following.
If the faculty puts forward one person, university leadership only needs to confirm the faculty’s choice.
If there are two, leadership chooses between two visions of the faculty’s future.
Four candidates means: “we are helpless and unable to agree; please decide for us.”
I proposed to S. Yu.
Utevsky that we simultaneously withdraw our candidacies in favor of Yu.
G. Gamulya.
The reason why I would prefer the dean to be someone else whom I trust is stated on the penultimate slide.
Why do I support Yu.
G. Gamulya rather than V. V. Zhmurko?
First of all, age (46 versus 67).
Unfortunately, the dean will have to bear an extremely heavy workload.
In addition, Yu.
G. has no relatives at the Biology Faculty, which eliminates certain formal issues.
Unfortunately, I did not receive a response from S. Yu.
Utevsky.
The voting results are in the photo.
I am the outsider.
In the next voting round (where, for now, all four candidates remain), I will repeat my proposal.
