Well, it's summer... Soon I'll be heading to the biological station of our university to conduct a practice for students on vertebrate zoology.
The biological station, of course, is our pride (although it's a bit worn out). For some reason, the landowner who built its main building did not foresee the possibility of using it until the 21st century without major repairs. Was it not: I'll tell you about the history.
In 1888, the train in which Alexander III was traveling had an accident near the village of Borky in the Kharkiv province. They say that this story showed that the autocratic state was gradually becoming unmanageable, as all officials neglected their duties. It wasn't a terrorist attack. Allegedly, one of the first phrases of the tsar after the crash was: "You need to steal less!" 21 people died; all members of the royal family (except the dog) survived. A temple was built at the scene of the tragedy in honor of the miraculous salvation of the tsar and his relatives. To understand why the miracle and God's mercy were in a catastrophe with many victims, you need, of course, a special mindset.
A local photographer, Oleksiy Ivanitsky, arrived at the scene. His series of photographs won the Golden Medal of the All-Russian Exhibition. The tsar gifted Ivanitsky a land plot above the Seversky Donets. In 1920, Ivanitsky was shot, and his estate went to the university's biological station, conveniently located nearby.
