Zoology-2019. Final Results of the Vertebrate Zoology Course

The zoology course is complete. Of 53 students, 3 ignored the course entirely, 5 worked but insufficiently, and 45 received passing grades. Field practice is ahead...

Yesterday, June 7th, second-year students sat the vertebrate zoology exam. For those who had worked throughout the semester (the majority, as seems fairly convincingly demonstrated here), the exam had a non-critical impact on the overall grade: 16 points were determined by the rector's control results, and 24 points were distributed across two written questions. For those who had skipped the semester, there was a much heavier load to carry.
For students who, under the strict rules, did not quite reach a passing grade but were close to it, I — taking a sin upon myself — stretched their scores to 50 points by grading their answers with unjustifiably generous leniency. Those who did not receive a passing grade fall significantly short of it. At least two of the students who did not pass were caught cheating from the internet (during lengthy bathroom breaks or by some other means). Evidence of cheating is visible in their work, and it did not help them — because they did not understand what they were copying. All students who did not receive a passing grade will need to sit the entire course again, meaning they will answer all 6 questions on the exam card. A word of warning: coming to the exam on the chance of getting lucky is pointless. Spend the necessary time, work through all the questions (22×6=132), and come to the exam only when you can say something concrete about each of those 132 questions. Keep in mind: to score 50% of the course points, you must write 50% of the model answer for each question. If you decide to answer only 3 of the 6 questions hoping that I or my colleagues will give you a passing grade, all three of those answers must be exemplary. I warned you: it is much easier to work throughout the semester and accumulate points step by step...
Retakes with me before the end of the session, or grade submissions, will only be possible on Monday the 10th and Tuesday the 11th of June. From the 11th I will be on a business trip. I return on the 16th, the 17th is a day off, and on the 18th we set off for field practice in Haidary; retakes will also be possible in Haidary. If you are keen to retake between the 12th and 14th (and manage to prepare) — contact the head of the department, V.A. Tokarsky, or his deputy T.A. Atemasova — they have the right to conduct the exam or delegate it to someone else (O.V. Korshunov or M.O. Kravchenko).
Each student's results are below. Grades received at the exam (including the rector's control) are shown in bold. The table headers indicate how many points could be earned for each component of the overall grade.
