Zoology-2019. Semester Performance Results

Results of the study of vertebrate zoology throughout the semester by second-year students.

Dear second-year students!
Here are the results of your work in the vertebrate zoology course throughout the semester. Please note: as stipulated by the rules (which I warned about many times), I counted test results only if the student had orally defended the given topic with the instructor running the practical sessions. I made only one exception: students from the two groups taught by Nadiia Viktorivna may not have had time to submit the final topic "Birds"; for students in those two groups, the bird test results were counted regardless.
I made one mistake: when grading the "Fish" topic tests, I used 10 points for the best answer instead of the maximum of 8 (as required by the rules). This resulted in the maximum number of points for the semester being 62 instead of 60 (for example, Alina Pokus, who received the maximum score in all cases, earned 62 points). I will not take away those accidental points (but I will take them into account when assigning the exam grade, so no one ends up with 102 points for the course!).
Grades submitted by the instructors have been converted to an 8-point scale: "5" — 8 points, "5-", "4+" — 7 points, "4" — 6 points, "4-", "3+" — 5 points, "3" — 4 points.
June 7th is the traditional exam with open-answer questions on exam cards. The questions are here. According to the rules, students who earned points during the semester will answer two main questions; those who lost this opportunity or accumulated insufficient points will answer a greater number of questions (up to six).
The distribution of points earned is very interesting. See:
zoo2019s
This graph shows the distribution of the sum of 7 components, each with approximately the same scale (8 or 10 points). According to the central limit theorem, the sum of independent variables should approach a normal distribution. What we see is quite a different picture. This is a consequence of a single factor that influences all components — a very simple thing: whether a student studies or not. If they do, they fall into a spread-out distribution with a median around 50 points; if not, they fall into the left "tail"...
And here are the individual semester results for each student.
