Ecology for Biotechnologists-2019. Examination Results
Of 23 students, 4 did not come to the exam; of the 19 who came, 12 passed and 7 did not. Those who passed — please hand in your grade books; those who did not — discuss a retake date with me and prepare properly!
Dear biotechnology students! The ecology exam took place today, but since I checked your papers immediately, I can already share your results now. Of 23 students, 4 did not come to the exam; of the 19 who came, 12 passed and 7 did not. The simplest way to share the grading results with you is to provide a screenshot of the spreadsheet window in which I calculated your scores. In the formula bar you can see how the points for your answers were calculated. I assigned a grade as a percentage of what I considered should have been in the answer. Depending on whether you had a grade for the corresponding test or not, this percentage was converted to 10 or 25 points (you do remember that none of you wanted to improve the topic grade received during testing!). For some of you who almost «made it» to a certain level, I raised a grade within reason so that the total score reached that level. In the case of a paper where all answers word-for-word matched internet sources (Wikipedia or our course syllabus), I gave zero grades (although I must note the high level of cheating ability: to copy everything under the supervision of instructors requires very specific highly developed qualities). [IMG_1] On December 24 from 11:00 to 15:00 I am ready to record the grades of those who passed the exam. I am open to hearing your suggestions for when to hold the retake. During the retake for O. Shliakhova, M. Skrypkin, and T. Terekhova (who did not write today) their test grades may be credited (for D. Sokolov this does not matter since he did not take the tests either). All others will answer questions that will be graded at 25 points each. I advise you to prepare thoroughly for the retake, as the third attempt must be taken before a committee, and it may be difficult for all of us to find a time that suits everyone. I want to explain what thorough preparation means. To earn 50 points, you must answer ALL FOUR questions from the 80 offered to you at least at the 50% level. If you decide not to answer a question, that means you must answer some other question perfectly, at 100%. Under other conditions you will not receive a passing grade; do not count on copying — I will take the lesson learned today into account and tighten supervision. Those who passed the exam — please hand in your grade books; those who did not — discuss a retake date with me and prepare properly!
