Ecology, 2013. Module IV Results and Overall Course Summary

Everything. All classes have been conducted, all modules passed. The results are below. Unfortunately, in all the time since the students of the biology faculty began to study ecology not by listening to lectures, but from the notes that I initially distributed, and then, together with M.K., published, the level of mastery of the material turned out to be the lowest. Perhaps the reason is that I did not get along with the course. I was very stressed by the stories of cheating during the study of zoology. It seems that there was no mass cheating during the ecology test, although I was surprised that an excellent student and a Mechnikov scholar was caught being dishonest, for example. In the old days, such people usually demonstrated a sense of self-worth. What to do with this? Accept the situation as a learning experience. I will try to draw the necessary conclusions, and I advise you to do the same. The decision "it's not my fault; I'm fine, and it's someone else's fault for everything" is not the best possible... Pleasant. When entering your answers into the computer database, I received invaluable help from Yuli Kostyuk, and thanks to her, I can present the results the day after you finished writing the tests. Thank you! The distribution of grades for Module IV is shown in the graph. I graded quite modestly, but even on this test, those who scored only 50% of the correct answers received a C. Individual results for Module IV are shown in the general table, along with the calculation of the final grade. I assigned a grade only based on the module results (in particular, because I was dissatisfied with the work of the groups in the seminars). Each module is worth 25 points (this is grade A). The "weight" of grade E is 50% of 25 points, i.e., 12.5 points, rounded up to 13. FX - 25%, 6.25 points, rounded up to 6. By the same logic, D=16 points, C=19 points, and B=22 points. Three people took all the modules but did not score the 50 points required to get an E. They received "humanitarian aid" (HA), which allowed me to give them a minimum passing grade. All who received a passing grade (i.e., E, D, C, B, and A) can come to me during any of the ecology classes scheduled for next week (4th period on Monday, December 23rd; 3rd period on Wednesday, 25th; 4th period on Thursday, 26th; 3rd period on Friday, 27th) and get their passing grade. Those who earned E, D, C, and B grades can improve them by retaking the modules whose grades they are not satisfied with (however, consider whether it is worth doing so: points earned on the passing grade do not affect scholarships). Those who received FX can at the same time answer questions from the modules that need to be passed or retaken. Passing is very simple. You draw a ticket with one question from each module and write answers to the questions for the modules you are taking. The questions correspond to the course syllabus. After December 27th, individual module retakes will cease. Ecology can only be retaken as a whole, by answering all 4 questions on the ticket, corresponding to the 4 modules of the course.
